Check-In Options Comparison
4/8/2011

ClubReady offers two different technologies for check-in. One is web based (runs in a web browser) and the other runs as an installed application on the club PC.  Both methods have unique pro's and cons - these are listed below.  You can run both at the same time if you wish.

Functionality

Web Kiosk

Windows Desktop App

Check-in methods supported Barcode, 4 Digit Pincode, Fingerprint, (hybrid barcode/fingerprint), username/password Barcode Only
Installation & Setup No installation - runs in web browser from web URL (intended to run in full screen kiosk mode). Setup is from club admin login setup area. Installed application - windows application that sits in the system tray. Download exe file from admin login setup area and get Key that is entered into the app once it is installed.  Talks to ClubReady over the internet but no web browser is involved.  Simple to setup but may require ClubReady tech-support to remote into Club PC to help configure.
Barcode scanner type Any keyboard emulation type scanner Serial scanner (USB) type
Best for Mid volume membership clubs, studio's, or as a PT check-in station in a large club High volume large clubs
Blocks Bad Check-In's Yes - with customizable message.  Check-in shows in check-in monitor in ClubReady admin login area. Audio response (audio for good/bad) can be updated in app. Check-in shows in check-in monitor in ClubReady admin login area.
Disadvantages Works best if on a dedicated PC running web page in kiosk mode (like check-in kiosk at airport which are a web page running in kiosk mode).  Clunky if club has only 1 PC.  Focus must be on kiosk web page for check-in to work.  For high volume clubs with thousands of check-ins a day could cause a line at peak times. Not client facing, limited functionality, only supports barcode check-in's.  Requires a serial scanner that cannot be used for other functions like POS
